Musikverein - Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde Wien
The Musikverein is the impressive venue of the Ball of Industry and Technology. Planned by the architect Theophil Hansen (1813-1891) in the course of the building of the Ringstrasse, it includes impressive elements of Philohellenism, which had left a lasting impact on Hansen due to a lengthy course of study in Athens.
Hansen created a classical atmosphere for classical works: the caryatids, which greatly distinguish the Goldener Saal are just as impressive as the ionic columns in the Brahmssaal or the antique polychromy, which was also used.
